How to Apply for a Marriage License

You may apply in person for a marriage license Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. except legal holidays. You can apply online any time, but in order to complete the online application process, both Bride and Groom must go together to the Court between the hours listed above, with any additional required materials mentioned in these instructions.

At least one of the applicants must be a resident of Richland County and the marriage must be performed in the State of Ohio. If both applicants are from out of state but wish to be married in Richland County, they must obtain their license in Richland County.

If either applicant is under 18 years of age, contact the court for further information.

A valid photo identification and Social Security Card is required for applicants over the age of 18.

If either applicant has been previously married and divorced, a certified copy of the most recent decree granting the divorce or dissolution is required for the clerk to review.

Cost of the license is $60 (cash only). Checks and credit cards are not accepted.

License may be used the same day it is issued. It must be used within 60 days. The day of issue is day 1 of the 60 days.

No blood test is required.
